Defamation cases that make it to trial are often headline-grabbing for their public display of deeply personal wars and enormous sums of alleged damages. Melissa Hewey, fresh off of trying a defamation case here in Maine, will examine the recent trial in Depp v. Heard and discuss some of the lessons that trial teaches us about how juries see celebrity, prurience and substance abuse and how trial lawyers need to recalibrate their presentation style depending on who they are representing and how their client is likely to be perceived by a jury.
Speaker: Melissa A. Hewey, Esq.
